Preparation and Vaccination

Depending on the regions where you are travelling, you may need a vaccination against yellow fever or take prophylaxes against malaria. Both should be taken before you enter these regions.

Before you leave, you should consult a doctor about the medical situation in the regions where you are going.

If you have been in a country were yellow fever occurs in a period of three months prior to your entry in Brazil, you are not allowed to enter Brazil without a Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate. Among travellers, this certificate is unofficially called ‘the yellow booklet’. This certificate may also be required if you enter another country after your stay in Brazil.
